EcoRobotix obtains B Corp certification

What is B Corp?

B Lab is a non-profit organisation founded in the United States some ten years ago. B Corp is the certification issued by B Lab to companies that meet the highest standards of social and environnemental performance, legal responsability and public transparency. Its purpose is to identify socially and ecologically responsible companies by measuring their impact in 5 different areas: employees, community, governance, the environment and links with customers and suppliers.

The idea is to support companies committed to serving a social mission in addition to a profit motive. To cite a few examples of the criteria that B Corp has chosen to highlight: fostering long-term relationships with local suppliers, ensuring ecological practices in the workplace, being attentive to the well-being of employees, promoting ethical and transparent governance…

An online impact analysis tool, the B Impact Assessment (BIA), makes it possible to measure whether the score obtained is below the minimum required for certification to be issued, and B-leaders can provide advice and support on the path to certification.

What about Swiss companies wishing to obtain this certification?

In Switzerland, B Lab Switzerland provides certification to companies. The methodology used is very rigorous. This long and complex process involves more than 200 questions independently analysed by a team of experts, as well as numerous documents to be provided. To maintain certification, a reassessment takes place every three years, during which time companies are ‘observed’. Indeed, obtaining this demanding label implies above all a continuous process. It is only a starting point and there is always room for improvement!

Obtaining the B Corp label: a company objective

At ecoRobotix, obtaining certification has been part of the company’s objectives since 2018. This process took months, due to the need for some readjustments and the many documents to be provided.

“This label is obviously an added value for our company. It is important for us to be able to show the outside world what our values are,” says Aurélien Demaurex, CEO.

At present, there are about thirty certified companies in Switzerland. Since June 2019, we have been proud to be part of this community and we look forward to seeing it grow in the coming years!
