EcoRobotix obtains B-Corp certification

What is B-Corp?

B-Corp is a non-profit organisation founded in the United States some ten years ago. Its purpose is to identify socially and ecologically responsible companies by measuring their impact in five different areas: employees, community, governance, the environment and links with customers and suppliers.

The idea is to support companies committed to a social mission as well as a profit motive. A few examples of the criteria that B-Corp has chosen to highlight are fostering long-term relationships with local suppliers, ensuring ecological practices in the workplace, being attentive to the well-being of employees, and promoting ethical and transparent governance.

An online impact analysis tool makes it possible to measure whether the score obtained is below the minimum required for certification, and B-leaders can provide advice and support on the path to certification.

What about Swiss companies wishing to obtain this certification?

In Switzerland, certification is awarded to companies by B-Lab Switzerland. The methodology used is very rigorous. This long and complex process requires the answers to more than 300 questions to be independently analysed by a team of experts, as well as numerous documents to be provided. To maintain certification, a reassessment takes place every three years, during which time companies are ‘observed’. Indeed, obtaining this demanding label implies, above all, a continuous process. But it is only a starting point and there is always room for improvement!

Obtaining the B-Corp label: a company objective

At ecoRobotix, obtaining certification has been part of the company’s objectives since 2018. The process took months because of the need for readjustments and on account of the many documents to be provided.

“This label is obviously an added value for our company. It is important for us to be able to show the outside world what our values are,” says Aurélien Demaurex, CEO.

At present, there are about thirty certified companies in Switzerland. Since June 2019, we have been proud to be part of this community and we look forward to seeing it grow in the coming years!
