Press release of Innovaud - Switzerland, February 27th 2025

42 companies are awarded the Scale-Up Vaud 2025 Label by Innovaud

Innovaud unveils the list of 42 scale-ups, including 9 new companies, that have been awarded the Scale-Up Vaud 2025 label. These Vaud-based companies have created more than 4,550 jobs in Switzerland and worldwide. Dive into this ultra-connected community with high potential.

We’re here! The traditional list—published for the past nine years—showcasing the Vaud-based companies recognized with the Scale-Up Vaud label is now available. For 2025, we are proud to feature 42 companies that meet the scale up criteria set by the OECD and followed by Innovaud.

What is a scale-up?

Spoiler: it’s neither a startup nor an SME (well, maybe a little bit of both). Confused? That’s normal. An SME, beyond having fewer than 250 employees, is not necessarily looking to expand. Meanwhile, a startup is constantly seeking investment and still refining its exact business model.

A scale-up has developed a market-validated business—like an SME—while continuing to to scale rapidly often through external funding—like a startup! To be considered a scale-up, a company must meet specific criteria, including an annual growth rate of at least 20% in either workforce or revenue over the past three years, with at least 10 employees or 1 million in revenue at the start of the period.

9 new Faces

The 2025 cohort includes 9 new companies spanning various innovation sectors, such as medtech, foodtech, and cleantech. Joining this community confirms a company’s positive trajectory, as highlighted by Pierrick Poulenas, CEO of Picterra:

"Joining Scale Up Vaud marks an important milestone for Picterra as we continue to scale our impact globally. Switzerland has been a fantastic place to build and grow our company, and we’re excited to be part of a community that supports innovation-driven businesses at this critical stage. With the right network and resources, we can accelerate our mission to make GeoAI more accessible and effective for industries worldwide."

Pierrick Poulenas, CEO of Picterra.

This community consists of CEOs, HR managers, CFOs, and CTOs from these 42 scale-ups and alumni, with over 170 members to date. Its goal is to connect these executives so they can share their experiences in managing a fast-growing tech company and learn from one another. The network is driven by around 30 events organized by Charlotte Ducrot and Caroline Schwarz, who lead the Scale-Up Vaud community. These privileged exchanges are highly valued by CEOs, as explained by Christophe Haldi, CEO of eeproperty:

"We are honoured to have been awarded the Scale-Up Vaud label by Innovaud. This recognition, which underlines our continued growth, is above all a mark of our commitment to innovation. Joining this dynamic community gives us greater visibility on the market, as well as valuable opportunities for peer exchange and synergies with other innovative companies. We look forward to working with the members of Scale-Up Vaud to strengthen the region's entrepreneurial ecosystem."

Christophe Haldi, CEO of eeproperty

A crucial Step

Moving from startup to scale-up is a critical step, full of challenges and potential pitfalls. Doubling the workforce, welcoming new investors, and making numerous strategic decisions—how can one avoid missteps?

LeadiNNg to Scale-Up is a program jointly offered by Innovaud and IMD, designed to support CEOs through this transition. Four editions have already taken place, featuring startups that have since evolved into scale-ups. « Once again we have a few companies getting the Scale up Vaud label for the first time who have been part of the LeadiNNg to Scale up Program. Not only do they come more prepared to get the most out of the community but they also know how much the peer exchange they experienced during the program will increase as the Scale up Vaud community is bigger and will benefit the rest of their C-level team” commented Charlotte Ducrot, co-Head of Scale up Vaud “We look forward to getting the whole community together in the coming weeks, introducing the new companies and integrating them into this amazing network who goes way beyond than just a Label”.

Ecorobotix has emerged as one of the leaders in sustainable technology innovation in the 2025 Tech Tour Growth50 Europe Listing. This recognition shows Ecorobotix's crucial role in shaping Europe’s deep tech ecosystem and its potential. Unveiled on January 21, 2025, the Growth50 Listing celebrates Europe's most promising tech companies driving innovation and growth.

Key points:

Press release of Tech Tour Growth50 Europe - Brussels, 21 January 2025

The Tech Tour Growth50 2025 Listing points to Europe’s deep tech potential

Today, Tech Tour announced the 2025 edition of the Tech Tour Growth50 Listing, as the prospect list of Europe’s future unicorns. The listing spotlights the European tech companies with the biggest growth potential. The Listing is deep tech heavy indicating the growth opportunities investors see in technology-driven companies. (See the Tech Tour Growth50 List below.)

This year’s Growth50 companies historically raised an impressive €8.6 Billion [or €172 Million on average per company], of which 81% was raised just in the past 4 years, demonstrating the momentum of the Listing’s companies.

This edition engaged over 70 investors on the selection panel [see list here] which first nominated and then voted to compose the Listing. The Listing Progamme is presided by Falk Mueller-Veerse of Bryan, Garnier & Co and the selection panel technology tracks were led by Yves Maitre of Jolt Capital (Digital), Remy de Tonnac of ETF Partners (Sustainability) and Sebastien Woynar of LBO France (Health).

“So far, it is undisputed that it is primarily US companies that have attracted investments in a global market in an almost unlimited amount. Nevertheless, this year's Tech TourGrowth50 list impressively shows that international investors are also looking very specifically at Europe and the respective market and technology leaders in a category. We see a remarkable number of European technology companies with high innovative strength that continue to be financed by increasingly selective investors,“ Falk Mueller-Veerse said. “Almost half of this year's Top 50 companies are also not on the list for the first time. It is increasingly becoming a 'the winner takes it all‘ situation in the various industry segments“.

Falk Mueller-Veerse, Bryan Garnier & Co, President, 2025 Tech Tour Growth 50 Europe

The Growth50 List and Data [see report] reveal further positive trends and valuable insights into the European tech entrepreneurship and investment scene:

All tech tracks attract substantial investments showing the diversity of potential across sectors: The average funding raised by the Growth50 companies in Health, Sustainability or Digital is showing only moderate variation. The average historic amount raised by the companies in the Digital sector is €187 million, in Health it is €176 million, and in Sustainability the figure stands at €148 million. This demonstrates that growth investment is now crossing over to all tech tracks, particularly to “deep tech” spaces, such as new space, quantum computing, photonics, AI for health, biotech, green energy, climate tech or regenerative agriculture.

Close to €2 Billion more raised by companies on the 2025 list: Total funds historically raised by companies on this year’s list are €8.6 Billion, compared to €6.7 Billion for 2024 Growth50 companies (at the moment of selection). This demonstrates even stronger evidence of unicorn potential, as well as higher concentration of investor interest.

French companies almost double y/y, Germany and The Netherlands score high: France leads this year in the number of Growth50 companies with 13 representatives – nearly twice as many as last year’s 7 –followed by Germany with 9 companies and Netherlands with 8 companies. The UK and Switzerland also score high on the list each with 5 companies, demonstrating geographic weight of the Listing in Northwestern Europe.

German companies with a solid funding lead: German growth companies on the list demonstrate a robust history of funding, with close to €3.5bn in amount raised, almost double that of French companies and close to triple that of Dutch companies on the list.

EU Growth investors are still in short supply: Although 41% of the estimated number of Growth50 investors are still outside the EU and 23% outside Europe - mostly in the US (18%) - this share decreased from last year’s Listing, where it was over 49%. It appears that the efforts of EU sovereign investors, such as the European Innovation Council (EIC) and its EIC Fund, acting as cornerstone investors, are having a positive crowding in effect.

Sovereign investors back the highest number of companies: 12 out of 18 investors backing 4 or more companies on the List are sovereign investors, with the EIC leading far ahead with 18 companies on the Listing of 50.

Tech Tour alumni represent almost half of the Listing: There is also much reason for Tech Tour to be proud, as 24 out of the 50 companies on the Listing have previously been selected and participated in one or more other Tech Tour Investment Event Programmes.

The gender imbalance persists: Despite the significant public debate and awareness surrounding gender diversity, only 12% of the founders and senior executives in the Growth50 companies are women. Over 60% of the entrepreneurs are serial, indicating that experience and track record count for investors.

The Growth50 companies will convene in Paris at the Tech Tour Growth50 Europe Summit on March 4th, 2025 with the Selection Panel investors. The event is organized by Tech Tour and partnered by Stifel, Jolt Capital, Silverpeak, Euronext, J.P.Morgan, Switzerland Global Enterprise, the EIC Scaling Club, and is co-hosted by EuroQuity Bpifrance. The 3 Winners of the 2025 Tech Tour Growth Awards will be announced over the Awards Dinner.

Ecorobotix has been awarded the 2024 Avantgarde Award by the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce (Swiss AmCham) Southern California. This honor celebrates our dedication to advancing Swiss-American business relations through forward-looking innovation and impactful contributions to sustainable agriculture. After placing as a finalist last year, we are incredibly proud to have achieved first place in 2024.

The Avantgarde Award acknowledges the achievements of businesses, non-profits, and individuals who foster strong, innovative, and mutually beneficial connections between Switzerland and the United States. Ecorobotix was recognized for its contributions to cutting-edge agricultural technology, our commitment to environmental stewardship, and the positive impact we’ve generated within the industry.

The rigorous selection process for this award includes evaluations by a distinguished jury composed of experts from Switzerland and the U.S., representing industry, academia, and government. This year, the jury included representatives from institutions such as the University of Southern California (USC) and ETH Zurich, who assessed submissions based on criteria like technological innovation, economic performance, job creation, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The three finalists included Ecorobotix, HILTI, and Georg Fischer (GF).

Our CBO, Claude Juriens, was honored to represent Ecorobotix at the Avantgarde Gala on November 8 at the California Club in Los Angeles, where our achievements in sustainability and circular economy practices were celebrated among distinguished peers and business leaders.

This recognition reinforces our commitment to fostering sustainable, impactful innovation that benefits both our customers and the broader Swiss-American business community. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce, the jury, and all those who continue to support our journey.

Ecorobotix’s ARA ultra-high precision sprayer addresses this problem head-on, reducing drift by up to 95%, as shown in recent studies in Germany and the Netherlands. While both certifications apply only to the current ARA model and are nationally recognized, these results demonstrate ARA’s strong potential for global drift reduction, making it a valuable solution to this widespread challenge.

The ARA sprayer has earned recognition on the Dutch DRT-list (Drift Reducing Technique), achieving a class 95% drift reduction, following a thorough assessment by the Technical Committee for Technology Assessment (TCT). This listing helps Dutch farmers comply with plant protection product regulations and environmental conservation efforts, provided the technique is used according to the prescribed settings.

In Germany, ARA has similarly been recognized by the Julius Kühn Institute (JKI) and included in the "Verzeichnis Verlustmindernde Geräte" (Directory of Loss-Reducing Devices). The system achieved certification of 95% drift reduction, demonstrating that, when operated under specified conditions—including specific nozzle spacing and shielding—ARA can significantly reduce chemical drift. These certifications allow German farmers to comply with regulatory standards while minimizing environmental impact.

One of ARA’s key strengths is its ability to reduce drift even in difficult weather conditions. In areas prone to strong winds, ARA’s precise spray technology and protective covers help keep drift to a minimum, providing farmers greater flexibility in their operations. Ecorobotix’s ARA sprayer reduces the use of plant protection products by 60-95% compared to traditional broadcast sprayers, thanks to its ultra-high precision 6x6cm spraying footprint. This allows farmers to significantly lower both input usage and manual labor costs.
